Sunroof Seal GL 32B

[Passat GL5]

Hi Guys

I have problem with Sunroof leak for many years water collects under rear seats! The sunroof seal has been taped up but has probably deteriorated.

Initially I suspected roof rail where it is bolted to roof and indeed at the Castricum treffen this year was a Dutch kartei member named Esther who had removed roof rails and sealed them up due to water leaks.Honestly I cant remember if the GL diesel model she owns has a sunroof?

I would think sunroof seals are not available for 32B ?

Here in UK we have TV series called Wheeler Dealers interestingly they sourced a new sunroof seal for a 1985 B2 Audi Coupe is this by any chance
the same seal for Passat 32B ?

The sunroof seal has the Partnumber 321 877 209 A.
This seal was also used in the Passat 1, Golf 2, Scirocco 2, Corrado, and even the Passat 3B until 2002 (but not at the sunroof) and in the Audi 80/90 B1 and B2.

The Audi Coupé has a different seal.

they are also familiar here in Germany as "Die Gebrauchtwagen-Profis" broadcasted via DMAX (Discovery Channel Germany) .

As you are the expert on 32B I have another question for you which i am interested to know the answer.The USA Quantum was it built in Germany or Brazil?

The VW Quantum should have been manufactured in Emden, not in South America. US and European models are very close in engine and interior specifications.

In Germany.

The 32B was built in:
- Germany (all markets exept the following)
- Argentina (only for Argentina)
- Brazil (whole South America except Argentina)
- Mexico (only for Mexico)
- South Africa (only für South Afrika and Namibia)
- Nigeria (only for Nigeria and only CKD-Produktion with Kits from Germany and later Brazil)
- Japan (License-production by Nissan, only for Japan)
- China (only for China)
- Spain (only for Spain)

The B2 / 32B was built in Bruxelles, Belgium, as well... - for European markets, unsure how long and for what markets exactly.
