that´s a different question. I agree, the noise is stressy even with the 1.6TD, and the 1.9 is even louder (like the difference between a purring cat and a roaring lionZollie hat geschrieben:Hmmm... Okay, the engine will survive the 2N gearbox, but I think it's more relaxing to travel at 2500~3000 rpm than 3250~4000 rpm... So a heavier transmission would be nice.

if everything fits fine, you should have a nice box with 2000rpm @ 100km/h. That´s pretty long but surely nice for cruising (if overtaking lorries don´t force you down to 90 and to accelerate after, so you will have to downgrade each time)I have already found a 2V gearbox, and had a 3M myself. When I put the gears of the 2V on the final drive from the 3M, I would have a very nice gearbox!! My manual has exact the same instructions for both gearboxes, so it should work
the story of the load I mentioned because of the late injection = more consumption at low load and how to work around. Of course the load is not high at the considered conditions, so a modification would make sense. At high load there is no saving because the injection starts early already with the stock setting, so if you take your modified gearbox, no "economy-tuning" should be necessary. It's not the high load, it's the average piston speed I am concerned about. In a TDI that's about (95.5/86.4)= 1.105 times higher than a D/TD (with same gearbox). The engine will wear about 10% faster. Plus, with this kind of power in a 32b I think I will be using it more often, so more speed, more rpm's (more wear!)
The average piston speed (12,7m/s @ 4000rpm) is not critical (f.e., a JN does 15,8 @ 5500, a KV 16,4 @ 5700). The wear depends much more on number of cold startsand on thermical stress than on engine/piston speed. I guess that your TDI will survive the whole car, these engines run often 400ooo km and more on conditions an old TD would have died @ less than 200ooo.
What clutch will you take? The 210 is fine for the boosted 1.6, but for the 1Z a 228 would be better (no idea if that flywheel fits into the 4 cylinder clutch bell) because I think that with the long geared transmission you will soon get the idea of chiptuning
